In addition to its popular movie theater chain, the Great Texas Movie Co. owns and operates two other movie theaters in Central Park. The former General Cinema Ridgmar is now Movie Tavern, and the former AMC Green Oaks is now Movie Tavern Green Oaks. The company spent $1 million on the renovation of the movie theater’s lobby and expanded its menu. By the mid-2000s, the company owned 20 theaters, including its Central Park multiplex.

The Ridgmar Movie Tavern in Bedford was a movie theater that closed on December 2, 2018. The venue had a small selection of movies, and there was no full-service bar. It also tended to smell strongly of beer, which made the atmosphere less than conducive for families with young children. However, it was ideal for adults looking to see sleazy crime thrillers or B-movie fare.

Before opening the Movie Tavern in Bedford, Benson had operated a conventional movie theater in Granbury. The Ridgmar location was vacant after the General Cinemas chain closed the theater near the Ridgmar Mall in Fort Worth. Benson was familiar with the success of Alamo Drafthouse and Studio Movie Grill, and he decided to buy the Ridgmar location as an experiment. He opened Movie Tavern in November 2001.

The Ridgmar Town Square VI was demoted to discount status in 1988 and closed in February 1998. The movie theater was hit by the megaplex boom, when the industry was dominated by stadium-style movie theaters. General Cinema had no way to survive with its single entry into the megaplex circuit, the 14-plex in Irving Mall.
